Join us at the Illinois Science Education Conference, October 24-26! The conference is put on by the Illinois Science Teachers Association (ISTA) at the Tinley Park Conference Center in Tinley Park, IL. We will have two 45-minute workshops where you are invited to experience our activities firsthand. See below for details.

Saturday October 26

Engage your students in science with a unit on circadian rhythms
9:00am - 9:45am, South Pavilion 1

Come experience activities from a project-based science unit that uses the context of sleep and circadian rhythms to engage students in scientific practices. Project NEURON has developed this unit to help teach connections between proteins, genes, and behavior by integrating authentic scientific research. Access to free NIH-SEPA funded curriculum materials will be provided at this workshop. (High school)

 

Scientists for your school: Curriculum resources linking university scientists with sixth through twelfth graders
2:30pm - 3:15pm, North Pavilion 5

Come experience curriculum resources developed collaboratively by scientists, science educators, and teachers. Middle and high school curriculum materials focusing on a breadth of biology concepts will be highlighted during the session. Project NEURON and Plants iView resources will be shared with workshop participants. (Middle school, High school)
