Honey bee simulation: How do honey bees heat the hive?

This simulation was developed using NetLogo, a free programmable modeling environment developed at Northwestern University that is used by students, teachers, and researchers to make and use models and simulations. Follow these simple steps to use the simulation:

  1. Download the free NetLogo program from Northwestern's NetLogo development page.
  2. Download the modules from this page (listed under Files).
  3. Open NetLogo and navigate to the modules (.nlogo files) saved on your computer.

This simulation shows how bees heat the hive with their bodies.
