Summer Camp 2012

The 2012 FIND Orphy Summer Camp ran from July 9, 2012 to July 13, 2012. The camp hosted 23 students ranging in age from kindergarten to 5th grade at the Orpheum for an exploration into neuroscience. Campers examined sheep brains and eyes, conducted planarian regeneration experiments, investigated how we perceive color, and learned about the functions of neurons.

Project NEURON graduate students, University scientists, educators, and Orpheum staff worked with campers as they developed an understanding of concepts in neuroscience. The camp ran half-days Monday through Thursday, and a full day on Friday with a field trip to University labs for the 3rd to 5th grade students. Approximately half of the student were recommended by local social workers and attended camp for free.
